Community invited to contribute to future plans

17 June 2013

Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire has demonstrated its commitment to developing stronger communities by inviting the people of Penistone to contribute to its future plans in the area.

The public exhibition held on Thursday 13th June at St John’s Junior School from 4.30pm – 7.00m  gave all interested parties the opportunity to drop in and discuss a draft proposal for 165 new homes on Hartcliff Road in Penistone.

Wayne Gradwell, managing director at Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said:  “We wanted to give the public an opportunity to discuss with us the proposed plans for this residential development, which feature a range of two, three and four bedroom family homes.

Following on from the consultation event the feedback gathered from the local community will help Persimmon to shape their proposed planning application ready for submission to Barnsley Council towards the end of July.
The application not only takes into account the issues raised at the consultation meeting, a whole suite of technical reports will support the application addressing many of the concerns that local residents associate with a the construction of new homes.

A full transport assessment and travel plan will be formulated, flooding and drainage assessment, ecology survey, tree survey, sustainable design and construction report, access proposals and all the necessary plans and drawings to support the application.

The planning application will provide a number of Section 106 benefits which will be determined through the application process.

Wayne added: “The site off Hartcliff Road has been identified as an appropriate location for future development, and as a responsible builder we wanted to be certain that any application we propose has been thoroughly considered by the local community it will serve.”
