Construction manager comes top yet again

14 December 2010

A multi award winning site manager from Swansea has again been named ‘Regional Winner’ in this year’s National House-Building Council (NHBC) Pride in the Job Awards.

Dave Bullock who works for Llantrisant-based housebuilder, Persimmon Homes East Wales, was selected as regional winner of the award in the large builder category, which recognises the high quality of work undertaken on his site at Wyncliffe Gardens, Pentwyn.

As well as winning this award and being named ‘Supreme Winner’ last year, Dave’s hard work has also been recognised by NHBC’s ‘Seal of Excellence’ and ‘Quality’ awards, which he has also won.

Commenting on his success, Dave says: “I am very proud to have scooped this award again and to have fought off such stiff competition from other site managers.

“I have extremely high standards when I’m working with my team of contractors out on site and I like a job to be done right first time so that we create homes that are perfect for our customers.

“My attention to detail, coupled with my drive to continually improve standards of workmanship is being adopted by my team, and by having an open and honest working relationship with them ensures that I get the best out of everyone.

“I could not achieve such high standards, however, without the hard work and dedication of my colleagues, both those onsite and office based. This award not only reflects their efforts and achievements, but gives our buyers added assurance that they are buying a superior, high quality home from us, a quality that we have proven is consistent.”

The NHBC awards are a symbol of helping to raise the standards in the construction of new homes, which is an important issue for today’s society and for new home buyers. Dave was assessed on nearly forty related skills, including their technical knowledge, consistency in the build process, leadership and organisational skills.

The NHBC carries out a rigorous judging procedure to determine the award winners. For over a year NHBC Inspectors have made spot check visits to each Pride in the Job nominated site, assessing the site at key stages of construction, from foundations to the finished product.
