Cornwall and West Devon supports Children’s Hospice South West in St Austell
16 December 2022

Children's Hospice South West has received a donation from our Cornwall and West Devon region.
The charity’s ‘Little Harbour’ hospice in St Austell, Cornwall, has received £1,000 from our Cornwall and West Devon region.
The donation is part of the our Community Champions initiative, which donates up to £750,000 a year to good local causes and organisations across Great Britain.
The organisation supports families and provides incredible hospice care including respite and short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end-of-life care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
The donation will help the charity purchase new play equipment for its soft-play centre at Little Harbour.
Commenting on the donation, Sally Bridger, Area Fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West, said:
“On behalf of Little Harbour in St Austell and Children’s Hospice South West, I want to say a huge thank you to Persimmon Homes Cornwall.
“Children’s Hospice South West exists to make the most of short and precious lives and puts children and families at the centre of all it does.
“We strive to provide first-class care to our families and children and this funding will allow us to invest in new play equipment to ensure we deliver the best possible care at Little Harbour.
“Little Harbour serves many families in Cornwall and we are reliant on the support of businesses, and we are delighted Persimmon has chosen to support us.”
Jane Cartwright, Sales Director at Cornwall and West Devon region, said:
“Our Community Champions initiative is all about supporting the communities and people where we build new homes, and with our ever-increasing presence in Cornwall, we couldn’t have found a more fitting recipient.
“Little Harbour in St Austell provides an outstanding service and supports so many families and children during incredibly difficult times.
“The hospice and staff places children and families at the centre of the organisation and promotes a strong, caring community environment characterised by a culture of sensitivity, trust, consideration and respect for others.
“We are proud to assist Children’s Hospice South West in its endeavours and outstanding work for families in Cornwall and across the wider region.”
