Couple find the house that has everything

A four bed detached property on a new development proved to be ‘the house that had everything’ for one Milton Keynes couple.
Shane and Zelda Arbuckle had been house-hunting for almost a year when they came across Oakridge Park, a Persimmon Homes development just north of Milton Keynes. They saw the plot on a drawing in the site office and immediately knew it ticked every box on their necessities list.
Shane picks up the story: “We originally began looking for a four bed semi within our £250,000 budget. However something that should have been so simple proved anything but… We looked at so many developments in the area, but nothing was quite right –some didn’t have a dedicated study, the kitchen and dining room were separate and we were keen on an open plan kitchen and dining area, or the garden was not south facing.
“That was until we found Oakridge Park.”
Shane fell in love with The Saffron, a four bedroom home in a quiet cul-de-sac on the new development, and was able to persuade Zelda fairly quickly that it should be their house. It matched everything on their ‘essential’ list - a dedicated study, a large kitchen dining room and that all important south facing garden.
But even then it wasn’t plain sailing. The couple opted for Persimmon’s PartExchange scheme, but their two bed end of terrace home in Wolverton was seriously undervalued and Shane thought it was the end of the line.
“Persimmon were brilliant, really working hard to make the deal happen,” said Shane, who works in the construction industry. “Rae, the sales advisor, was exceptional throughout. She was totally honest with us and ensured we weren’t overstretching ourselves financially, even though at £294,950 the property came in above our budget. Everyone within Persimmon was so helpful, keeping us informed every step of the way. We are so, so grateful that Persimmon were willing to help us.”
Shane was a regular visitor to the house as it was being built.
“I got to know the site really well, saw its bare brick, wooden timbers and roof tiles going on. I saw for myself that Persimmon do things property, there was no scrimping in the areas that are important.”
Shane, Zelda and three year old Joshua moved into their ‘perfect’ new home in July.
Shane said: “This is the house I always knew I wanted and I was able to convince Zelda fairly quickly that this house was made for us. Every finish was chosen by us, every extra chosen by us; it ticks every necessity box for us and is truly our house.
“In the current economic climate, we thought we would be stuck in a smaller house for years, when in fact, thanks to Persimmon, we are now settling into our perfect home that we will be happy with for many years to come.”
Oakridge Park has a range of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom houses to suit all home buyers, with prices starting from £154,950.
