Cullompton site manager receives prestigious NHBC Quality Award

26 June 2024

Mark Hambleton, site manager at the Mill Gardens development in Cullompton, has been honoured by the National House Building Council (NHBC) with the prestigious Pride in the Job Quality Award, recognising his exceptional dedication to home construction.

Mark is among 19 site managers from Persimmon Homes to achieve this distinguished award this year, marking the company’s best performance in nearly fifteen years. At Mill Gardens, Mark is supported by assistant site manager Petar Todorov.

Mill Gardens, part of the significant development in Cullompton, aims to meet the high demand for housing in the area. The first phase of Mill Gardens in Cullompton will see 200 homes once complete, and the housebuilder has already committed over £2m towards a new primary school, contributions to early years, secondary and special needs education, a doctors’ surgery expansion, and a town centre road relief contribution as part of the developer’s plans.

The site team behind the Mill Gardens development in Cullompton was also recently celebrated at Persimmon Homes’ annual excellence awards. The development took silver in the Construction Excellence Award, placing second out of around 300 outlets, nationally. Mark, Petar, and their team were commended for exceeding expectations in pursuit of quality, constructing beautiful homes, high-standard infrastructure, and comfortable surroundings.

As a business, Persimmon recently secured its five-star House Builders Federation rating for a third consecutive year. The Pride in the Job competition is highly regarded in the homebuilding industry, serving as a benchmark for outstanding quality and performance among site managers.

All site managers on NHBC Buildmark warranty-registered sites are eligible to compete. Quality Award winners advance to the Seal of Excellence Award stage, with the opportunity to compete for Regional Awards and the ultimate Pride in the Job Supreme Awards in January 2025.

Mark shared his thoughts on the recognition, stating “I’m incredibly honoured to receive this award, which reflects our team’s relentless commitment to Persimmon’s values of quality, integrity, and care. Together with my assistant site manager, Petar Todorov, and the entire site team, we work tirelessly to ensure every home we construct offers a solid foundation for families to build their futures.

“At Mill Gardens, our mission extends beyond just building houses; we are dedicated to creating a vibrant, sustainable community where the community and our customers can flourish. This award is a testament to our unwavering dedication to excellence and our continuous efforts to deliver quality homes for local people.”

Dan Heathcote, Managing Director for Persimmon South West, added “We are very proud of Mark and his team at Mill Gardens. “Mark’s leadership epitomises Persimmon’s core values and our unwavering commitment to quality. His dedication ensures that we not only meet but exceed the expectations of our customers.

“By embracing these values, Mark and his team are not just constructing homes, but building robust, lasting communities. This award is well-deserved recognition of their hard work and the high-quality standards they maintain.”
