A businessman with a passion for fast cars has been put into the driving seat at Persimmon South East, with a pledge to make the company a force to be reckoned with in the region
Darren Jones, from Basingstoke, has been appointed managing director of Persimmon and Charles Church Homes South East, which operates new homes developments across Kent, Sussex and Surrey from its headquarters in Weybridge.
Mr Jones, 43, said: “As a business, Persimmon Homes – along with its sister brand Charles Church – needs to expand within the South East and deliver the true value that is here. I want to see the company being a force to be reckoned with in the region.
“We have a number of developments planned to complement our existing sites in Lower Beeding, Ashford, Uckfield, Hellingly, Leybourne and Sheerness, and I am looking forward to supporting the team as we drive the business forward.”
Married with two sons, Mr Jones has been a managing director for ten years, including a previous stint at Persimmon South Coast in Fareham and more recently at the Southern office in Camberley.
“Last year I was looking for a new challenge, so left to set up my own business,” he said. “I really enjoyed the variety of new experiences that offered, but couldn’t deny that my real love was house building. I am a housebuilder through and through, so was delighted to return to Persimmon.”
Away from work, Mr Jones enjoys rebuilding classic motorsport cars.
“Restoring rally/classic cars appeals to my perfectionist nature, and of course, love of fast cars. I am just finishing a Ford GT40 and working on an original Audi quattro turbo.”
