Developer dishes out donation to Swindon breakfast club

24 January 2024

A breakfast club for local children in Swindon has been boosted by a £5,000 donation from the builders behind the Stanton Chase development.

Persimmon Homes Wessex donated the funds as part of their Community Champions scheme to Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, which started the club last summer.

The club runs every Monday morning from 7-8:30am, welcoming children and parents of all school ages, ensuring they start their week off on a full stomach.

It runs out of the Meadowcroft Community Centre where the Parish Council is based. The financial contribution will complement the funding the club gets from the Council.

Persimmon Homes donates over £700,000 to good causes and much-valued organisations each year across Britain as part of the Community Champions initiative. Recent local recipients include West Swindon Scouts, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, and Stratton Primary School.

The five-star developer currently has two, three, and four-bedroom homes available from £254,995 at its Stanton Chase site in Stratton St Margaret.

Commenting, Pauline Fletcher – Sales Director for Persimmon Homes Wessex said:

"Persimmon continues to enjoy a strong presence in Swindon with our Stanton Chase development, where we're not just building homes, but creating a sustainable and inclusive community.

“As a local business, we are determined to support good local causes and we’re delighted to be able to fund this superb initiative which supports local families in the area.

“Our focus goes beyond construction; we aim to leave an enduring, positive legacy where we build and that's why supporting initiatives like the Stratton St Margaret Parish Council's breakfast club is at the heart of what we do.”

Amy Loxton, Clerk to Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, added:

“We’re very grateful to Persimmon for their donation to our breakfast club – it is important for us to bring in more funding sources so the Parish Council is better positioned to deliver for local families.

“The Parish Council is very proud of the breakfast club and the role it plays in serving the community, and it is important that this service is there during difficult times.”

In December, Persimmon also secured a resolution to grant planning permission for a new sustainable community of 1,552 high-quality homes in Kingsdown. It has also recently completed its estate at Badbury Park in the south east of the town.
