Donation support for disability football
09 November 2021

A donation of £1,000 will help a Hampshire football team to support more children playing in its disability teams.
Hamble FC secured the funding from our Community Champions scheme, which aims to assist organisations in the areas where the company is building.
Joe Lindsay, director in charge at Persimmon South Coast, said. “Grassroots sports clubs play a vital role in our communities, providing both exercise and competition but also a social focus for their neighbourhood. Hamble FC is an excellence example of this, and we are proud to support their work to encourage more children to play in their disability teams.”
The FA Charter club, based off Hamble Lane, has teams ranging from under-8s to veterans, including girls and women’s sides, as well as pan-disability teams providing positive football experiences for all ages. Club spokesman Steve Harris said: “We are very grateful to Persimmon Homes for this support. The funding will enable players to have their own football to take home for training, helping to boost their skills and confidence. We will also purchase blind footballs and eye coverings to enable our one visually impaired player to compete on level terms with the other children.”

Joe Lindsay added: “The Community Champions scheme allows us to make donations to two local organisations every month. Anyone interested can complete a simple online application form online.
