Work is underway on an eco discovery show home being built by East Midlands region at Hampton Green.
The latest development by East Midlands region in Peterborough will bring 557 energy efficient homes to the wider Hampton community, each offering increased insulation, waste water heat recovery and EV charging with solar panels used extensively throughout the development.
The new homes will offer a 31% carbon reduction when compared to those built under older building regulations and Persimmon are keen to showcase how the new technological advances will improve efficiency and cut bills for those moving in.
Alongside a traditional show home, East Midlands region will be opening an innovative eco discovery home with exposed sections that allow prospective residents to see the levels of insulation and the process of harvesting the heat from waste water to heat the home.
Ben Smith, Managing Director of Persimmon East Midlands, explained: “We are incredibly proud of the energy efficient measures we are incorporating into the new homes at Hampton Green and the impact that will have not only on energy bills but also the environment.
“Many of these features will be built into the fabric of the building and are hard to see in a finished home. We want prospective residents to be able to see these features and understand how they work and the only way to do that is to expose them.
“We are excited to offer this experience to future buyers and to help them understand how to get the most from their new homes while reducing carbon emissions and lowering their energy bills.”
This latest phase of development will form part of the wider Hampton Woods community at Hampton East and will include 64 homes for those in housing need locally, offered for below market value rent through a housing partner or on a shared ownership basis.
Properties built around the lake will include first floor living to maximise the views over the water and the development will be built in a village style to create a community feel.
The new spine road running through the centre of the community which will serve as a bus route, offering sustainable transport links to the city centre.
