Electric charging points for Micklefield homeowners
19 February 2021
House hunters looking to go greener can now have an electric charging point installed at their own property at a Micklefield new homes development.
Persimmon Homes is helping buyers at its Manor Grange site to make the transition to a greener motoring future by providing the facility to charge an electric vehicle from the comfort of their own home.
The charging points on the 187 homes development, are located on either the external walls of the property or within garages. A further 38 dwellings are also installed with energy saving solar PV panels.
Christopher Hull, managing director for Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “The installation of these environmentally saving features may be a requirement by Leeds City Council planning policies to help tackle climate change, as it works towards its target of becoming carbon neutral by 2030, but it’s also encouraging to receive such a positive response from our customers.”
“It is pleasing to see many of homeowners expressing a desire to help reduce their carbon emissions. Having the electric charging points readily installed in their homes helps simplify the move to electric vehicle ownership.”
The locations of the charging points may vary depending on the house style and drive position. For properties with integral garages the charging points are installed inside the garage. For others, the installation is conveniently featured on either the front or rear external walls of the property. Homes with detached garages allow customers to opt for power installation, in which the charging point can be installed within the garage.
Christopher added: “Many of our developments across the region feature either or both electric charging points and solar PV panels. We expect more of our sites will have both in the future as local authorities update their strategies and include such polices.”
