Essex charity Heads2Minds will be supporting even more children facing with mental health challenges after a funding boost from Persimmon Homes Essex.
The charity secured a grant for £1,500 through our Community Champions scheme run by the Essex region, allowing them to further the work they do across the county.
Heads2Minds offers a range of services for adults and young people experiencing mental health challenges including holistic therapies, counselling, group therapy, and psychotherapy. Liz the CEO works in partnership with the Essex NHS Trust and other organisations.
Liz Rotherham, CEO and founder of the Maldon-based charity, said: “We are grateful for this donation and cannot thank Persimmon enough for their generosity. We are looking to go into schools and offer mental health and wellbeing support for children of all ages, teaching them coping strategies for future life.
"It is all about working together. We can refer on to others if we are not able to support someone, and we also take referrals from the NHS."
The charity also run a mental health first aider training programme to empower others to work with colleagues and help them cope with anxiety, stress and other mental health issues. They use a network of specialists to offer different services.
Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council and member for Great Totham, was invited to the charity’s new office, which sits within his ward, to meet the team and hear more about the work they are doing before the money was handed over by Persimmon.
He said: “I was extremely interested to hear about the work the charity conducts across Essex and how it supports the wellbeing of children.
“I am sure the money presented to the charity by Persimmon Homes Essex will help fund their growth and development and increase the support they can provide. I would encourage other community organisations in the district to apply for this valuable funding."
Matt Atton, Land and Planning Director at Persimmon Homes Essex, said: “We are proud that as a result of the work we do building new communities here in Essex we are able to help worthy causes like Heads2Minds.
“The work they do is invaluable, providing early intervention to prevent people reaching mental health crisis. It is a pleasure to know our donation will go a long way in supporting young people across Essex.
“We hope that through future developments we are able to continue supporting great causes such as this and bring real improvements to the communities within which we work.”
The Community Champions scheme offers funding support to charities, groups and organisations working within the areas in which Persimmon Homes is building. Applications for the next round of funding are now being invited – find out how to apply here.
