Essex region supports physio fund for Essex children

Persimmon Homes Essex has lent its support to a charity golf day that raises funds to pay for intensive physio for a group of six children living with Cerebral Palsy.
The region has donated £3,000 to the organisers of the annual Daniel Robinsons & Sons golf day, taking place at Colne Valley Golf Club in Earls Colne in September.
The event is expected to raise thousands for the six young beneficiaries, including Summer Andrews, 11, who accepted a cheque from the developer to add to the total raised on the day during a presentation at the neighbouring De Vere Grove development in Earls Colne.
Summer said: “I have Cerebral Palsy and it means my brain doesn’t communicate with my muscles as well as other people’s does.
“It affects people in different ways. My left wrist is very stiff and I find it hard to move.
“The NHS offer one physio session a month but with the money from the charity I can go every week, and then I have more to do at home. The physio involves lots of stretching, and different exercises to strengthen my muscles.”
The event is organised by the funeral directors, who have a branch in nearby Halstead, and supported by local business.
Gary Neill, Managing Director of Daniel Robinsons & Sons, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for supporting us and the children in this way. The money we raise goes a long way and has had a life-changing impact on the children we sponsor.
“Each of the children has Cerebral Palsy affecting their lower limbs and because of the intensive physiotherapy the golf days have funded five of them are now able to walk unaided.
“One of the young people we support competes in wheelchair racing and is currently training in Switzerland, hoping to take part in the 2024 Paralympics.”
Richard Hush, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes Essex, said: “Daniel Robinson & Sons have a long history of giving back to their community and it is an honour to be a part of their charity event this year, both sponsoring the day and taking part with a team of golfers from Persimmon.
“We have seen how their generosity, and that of other local businesses here in Essex, has helped the children they support learn to walk and purchase bespoke wheelchairs, giving them the independence they deserve and making a dramatic difference to their lives.”
The De Vere Grove development comprises 80 luxury two, three and four-bedroom homes within a village setting, close to local amenities and complete with play areas for families to enjoy.
