Faith's fabulous room design inspires home buyers

A schoolgirl who helped make history by naming a new housing development in Swaffham has seen her interior décor designs become a reality too.
In 2019 pupils from Swaffham Junior School used their imagination to come up with ideas – and the winner Faith Askew-Patten suggested ‘Pedlars Meadow’ for the £22.5m development.
Faith also submitted a drawing detailing how she would like to see a bedroom in the show home decorated and the team Persimmon Homes East Midlands were so impressed they decided to follow her design.
And now the four-bedroom Chedworth show home is open Faith, 12, was able to take a peek at how her dream design has become a reality.
Faith said: “It was a little while ago that I drew the design for the room, but it was lovely to see it had been framed and used as part of the decoration.
“I was very pleased to see the rainbow theme and the light that looks like a cloud was perfect for it.”
Nova Eames, sales director for Persimmon Homes East Midlands, said: “We love to work alongside the communities in which we build, so we were thrilled when in 2019 Swaffham Junior School helped name our new site.
“Faith’s name was absolutely perfect for this site, inspired by the legend of the Swaffham Pedlar who, following a dream, found buried treasure in his garden and used it to help the town’s church and community.
“We were also so impressed by Faith’s drawing and the rainbows tied in beautifully with the buried treasure connection – the house is like our pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and we are delighted Faith is pleased with her room.”
Pedlars Meadow, in Norwich Road, will provide 165 homes in a range of styles offering a selection of two, three, four and five-bedroom properties
“We have had a great deal of interest in these homes,” said Nova Eames, sales director for Persimmon Homes East Midlands. “This is down to the combination of its location and incentives on offer.
“Swaffham is a family friendly and attractive market town at the northern point of the Brecks, an area stretching across Norfolk and Suffolk known for its tranquillity and beauty. It is a fantastic location to explore Norfolk and Suffolk, including the North Norfolk Coast and the Norfolk Broads.
“We are also offering incentives to customers and we can help people get moving through our Part Exchange and Home Change schemes.”
Pedlars Meadow offers 14 different property styles for buyers to choose from, ranging from The Alnwick – a stylish two-bedroom house with an attractive kitchen/ diner and a spacious living room, to The Hadleigh – a generous five-bedroom family home with an en-suite to the main bedroom and downstairs cloakroom and the three-bedroom Lacey bungalow.
“We are confident Pedlars Meadow will become a vibrant new community as we bring much-needed homes and employment opportunities to the area,” continued Nova. “The development is unlike anything we’ve built in the area before and from the very start we felt it would be something special. It is of no surprise that homes are already attracting a great deal of interest. We would therefore encourage people to come and see us and see what is available before it’s too late.”
Prices at Pedlars Meadow start from £230,000.
