First home released for sale at Ebbw Vale development
18 January 2022

The first homes at our hotly-anticipated development in Ebbw Vale will be released for sale on Saturday.
Carn y Cefn is a £29m project by Persimmon to build 250 much-needed properties on the former Ebbw Vale Comprehensive School and College site on Waun-Y-Pound Road.
Work started last summer and the first properties are now ready to be released onto the market.
More than 1,000 people registered an interest in the development – and Victoria Williams, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said she expected these first releases to be snapped up quickly.
Victoria said: “We are delighted to be in a position to release the first homes at Carn y Cefn.
“We have been inundated with enquiries about this development. It’s in a prominent location in the town and many people are keen to move there.
“The property market is strong right across the country and I wouldn’t expect these properties to be available long, so I’d urge anyone interested to act quickly.
“Our experienced sales advisers are on site to show people the different house types available, with something for everyone.”
Visits to the marketing suite are by appointment only. Bookings can be made by visiting Carn Y Cefn or by calling 01495 364 202.
A total of 55 of the properties will be available for social rent with housing association United Welsh for prospective tenants on the Blaenau Gwent Council Common Housing Register.
The development will create more than 200 jobs over the five-year construction period, as well as boosting the local economy by £7m per annum.
Persimmon has agreed to contribute £783,354 towards education provision, which will be split between Glyncoed and Willowtown Primary Schools.
The first people are expected to move in at Carn y Cefn in the summer.
The Government-backed Help to Buy – Wales scheme is available, an initiative where buyers only need a five per cent deposit.
