First time buying homes for sale in Pontardulais in their 40s

10 August 2011

As a married couple in their 40s, Lynne and Simon Strawbridge are not your typical first-time buyers, but the pair have just bought their very first home at the new Persimmon Homes development in Pontarddulais.

Charity worker Lynne, and her Engineer husband Simon, have spent the last 20 years raising their children and renting properties around West Wales. But when their two boys, now 19 and 23 years old, flew the nest, the couple knew it was time to buy.

After months of visiting homes for sale in Pontardulais across the area, the couple finally visited Clayton Court and fell in love with the three-storey, four-bed townhouse that would soon become the first home they had ever owned.

Lynne, who works for Swansea-based charity Play Right, said: “We just never got around to buying before. There was always something going on with work or with our boys and we would put it off. We have rented houses our whole lives. Once we made the decision that it was time we found a place that we could really call our own, I was desperate to visit Clayton Court. I’d heard it was a great place to live. But my husband wanted to see other sites first, just to be sure. Six sites later and we finally arrived at Clayton Court and he agreed straight away that it was the right place for us.

“Our new home is just fantastic. The layout has been really well-thought through and there is so much space spread over three floors. I’m turning one of the four bedrooms into an arts and crafts room as I make greetings cards in my spare time. It’s lovely to have my own space. The house also has fantastic views over the ‘village’ square, right in the heart of the development. We are really proud to call this place our own – finally!”

Sharon Robinson, sales director at Persimmon Homes Wales, said: “It’s great to see Lynne and Simon buy for the first time with us. We pride ourselves in helping more people onto the property ladder and it goes to show that it’s never too late to find and buy your perfect home. Clayton Court has proved very popular with buyers of all ages as it provides a good mix of contemporary, as well as traditionally-styled, homes, ranging from one bed apartments to large detached homes, ideal for families. We know that Lynne and Simon will really enjoy their new home.”
