Flat track racer Jack Bell is travelling around to Europe this summer competing in the World Championships with the support of East Midlands region.

Jack, 20, of Lincolnshire, has received a donation of £1,000 from Persimmon East Midlands after applying to their Community Champions scheme.

The money will help fund his racing series this season as he travels to seven European countries competing against the world’s best riders. He is particularly excited to ride in front of a home crowd when he competes in the heat at Kings Lynn in August.

It is his third season riding in the series, having been placed 14th and 12th in the world for his class at the end of the 2022 and 2023 competition.

Jack visited Persimmon’s Holdingham Grange community at Sleaford to share his hopes for the new series and Managing Director, Ben Smith, presented him with a cheque.

Ben Smith said: “We are proud of the community legacy we are creating here in the East Midlands by supporting individuals, charities and schools through our Community Champions grants.

“Jack is a talented rider and we know this funding will support him this season as he competes at the very top level of his sport.”

Jack said: “Going to the series and competing against the top riders from around Europe you see a different calibre of riders and you have to really rise to the challenge of the competition.

“I am grateful to Persimmon for supporting me, this money will help me continue competing at the high level, and potentially give me the step I need to reach my goal of competing in America. It will be an honour to ride with Persimmon plates on my bike.”

North Kesteven District’s Councillor Robert Oates, who represents Sleaford Holdingham Ward, joined the celebration.

He said: “Persimmon Homes are an asset to our community and Jack Bell is an asset to the UK team. A winning combination.”
