Football Association scores funding
06 August 2021

A football association that works with schools to promote children and young people’s physical and mental wellbeing through the medium of football will benefit from a £1,000 donation from our West Scotland branch.
We selected the Scottish School’s Football Association to receive the funding through our Building Futures scheme, which supports organisations working with the under-18s.
Gillian Duffy, a spokesperson for the Association, said: “We will spend this funding on a festival for either our Primary or Secondary age groups and name it the Persimmon Homes Festival.
“It will also go towards transport costs for teams, or we could purchase strips for our six regional Girls teams.”
Over the years, the Association has successfully provided young people in Scotland with at least thirteen National Competitions per year. Many of their International Teams have gone on to play at full international level with their girls team recently reaching the Women’s World Cup.
Building Futures will deliver more than £1million to good causes across England, Scotland and Wales. The initiative aims to support community groups working with under-18s across three categories – education & arts, health, and sport.
A total of 128 grants of £1,000 will be awarded across Persimmon’s 32 regional businesses to improve local facilities and the delivery of vital community projects.
Three initiatives will go on to win £100,000 each through a national online public vote. The winners will be named at a gala dinner for finalists in November.
In each sector – education & arts, health, and sport – as well as the £100,000 first prize, there will be a £50,000 second prize and a £20,000 third prize, whilst a further 87 shortlisted projects will each receive £5,000.
Chris Logan, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said: “Building Futures is all about supporting youth organisations in our area. The great work and support provided by the Scottish School’s Football Association has the potential to reach more than 33,000 young players and we are delighted to support them.”
“We’re accepting entries to the scheme until the 15th August, so we’d urge more people to apply by visiting www.persimmonhomes.com/charity .
