Funding for safe space of culture
23 July 2021

A creative arts and entertainment group in Coventry has received a donation to help expand its online space into a physical and safe space of culture.
Kirsty Brewerton, from the Sitting Rooms of Culture CIC, applied for Community Champions funding and as a result was awarded £1,000.
The online community group uses creativity to improve mental, physical, and social wellbeing and they are now looking to expand this even further making it a physically accessible and inviting place for members of the city to visit and enjoy.
Kirsty said: “We are so overwhelmed by the donation from Persimmon Homes. With Coventry being this year’s city of culture, we believe there really is no better time than now to bring people together through the power of conversation and with this donation we plan to do just that.”
“We have been working on a new project which we are itching to show everyone very soon, bringing a ‘Settee of Culture’ to our local market.”
“Being run completely by volunteers has been difficult in terms of funding during Covid-19. We have previously been successful raising money from creative workshops with local artists, but this has now become limited. We can’t thank Persimmon Homes enough for their kindness.”
