Gloucestershire preschool wins cash for toys
05 July 2022

A small village pre-school in Gloucestershire has received a cash boost towards new toys.
Hawkesbury Preschool in Badminton has been granted £500 from Severn Valley.
The money comes through our Community Champions scheme.
Each month we donate up to £64,000 to good causes across the UK.
Sarah Poole, Secretary of Hawkesbury Preschool, said the money was a huge boost after fundraising struggles through the coronavirus pandemic.
She said: “We’re over the moon to receive this support from Persimmon Homes.
“We’re a thriving preschool with up to 24 children between the ages of two and five.
“Being based in the village hall, we are lucky to have a large open space with a wealth of natural resources for the children to enjoy and learn from.
“Over the past couple of years we’ve been affected by the pandemic and have struggled for funds.
“This money will enable us to upgrade some of our toys and resources – and maybe even organise a little trip for the children.”
More than £5m has been donated through Community Champions since its launch.
Carly Spear, Sales Director at Severn Valley, said: “We’re pleased to be able to support Hawkesbury Preschool.
“Covid made it very difficult for small groups to raise funds. It’s great to be able to help and to provide some new toys for the children to enjoy.
“Community Champions is just one way in which we play an active role in the communities in which we operate.”
