Good causes secure community funding

Our Midlands region has pledged to fund free drumming sessions to support the mental wellbeing of people in Milton Keynes.
The Midlands region donated £1,000 of funding to Milton Keynes-based Nkiru Arts through its Community Champions scheme.
Also securing £900 was Cheddington Neighbourhood Watch to cover the group’s costs for the next three years.
Claire Dearsley, sales director of Midlands region, said: “Our Community Champions scheme allows us to support two good causes every month with funding of up to £1,000.
“We are committed to helping local groups that make a genuine difference to their communities, and both of this month’s winners have demonstrated the positive impact that they make to the lives of people in their areas.”
Nkiru Arts provides community drumming sessions, helping local people to improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing in a fun relaxed environment. The sessions are totally inclusive, offering support and vital friendship to those who live alone or have been in isolation. The funding from the Midlands region will secure free sessions for those who would not otherwise be able to participate.
Cheddington Neighbourhood Watch supports more than 800 households in the village, delivering safety advice to residents and installing practical measures such as security lighting and door chains. The Midlands region donation ensures the group’s costs are covered for the next three years.
