A Norwich man has designs on a long career in planning after securing a graduate training post with Persimmon Homes.
Richard Reading graduated from Bangor University earlier this year and was snapped up by Persimmon Anglia to join the company’s land and planning department at its Broadland Business Park headquarters.
The 22-year-old is training on the job with Persimmon’s experienced in-house team as well as studying for a master’s degree in Urban and Rural Planning.
He said: “I joined Persimmon in July and have already learned so much from my knowledgeable colleagues. There is a lot to take in, but I am enjoying picking up new information every day.”
“The role was absolutely perfect for me, allowing me to build on what I had studied in my Geography degree.”
“As I am originally from Norwich, I care very much about future development in my own area and will be proud to contribute to the planning of meaningful and sustainable communities.”
“Persimmon is a very supportive employer, giving access to all the training and development necessary to be successful in the business. Many of the senior management and directors of the company have risen through the ranks, so there are opportunities for me to advance, both regionally and nationally.”
“I’m really looking forward to where the future can take me.”
John Eldridge, director in charge at Persimmon Anglia, added: “The key to our success is to ensure we have the best workforce in the industry and we are committed to recruiting and developing employees to enable the future growth of the business.”
“Richard is a valued addition to our planning team and we look forward to seeing him grow and prosper in the role.”
