‘Grand’ boost to school’s playground appeal

A small Cumbrian school’s playground appeal has been chosen to receive a ‘grand’ cash boost from Persimmon Lancashire.
Crosscrake Primary School in Stainton, Kendal, received a £1,000 grant in response to its application to the Community Champions scheme.
The funding will allow the school to purchase new equipment for its playground as well as repairing existing apparatus.
The children and PTFA have also raised money to improve their outside environment. However, Clare Benson from Crosscrake Primary School describes how fundraising for the school has been difficult due to the pandemic.
“We have delivered afternoon teas, done raffles and some parents have even run marathons, but over the past year fundraising has been difficult,” she said.
“We can’t thank Persimmon enough for their generous donation. We can’t wait to see the smiles on the children’s faces when they see their new equipment and the donation will also help go towards an outdoor stage, pull up bars and a trim trail for them to enjoy.”
John Roocroft, managing director for Persimmon Lancashire said: “We are so pleased that we are able to support young people in our community and we hope that this donation is enjoyed by all the students at Crosscrake School.”
The Community Champions programme supports local charities and good causes where Persimmon is building. The initiative offers two donations of up to £1,000 each month across Lancashire and Cumbria.
