Green light for 237 new homes in Banbury

10 May 2023

Approval has been granted by Cherwell District Council for the creation of 237 new homes at Wykham Park Farm, located off Bloxham Road to the south of Banbury.

The development, delivered by our South Midlands team, is the first phase of the wider Wykham Park Farm scheme which will be created in partnership with L&Q Estates and will – upon completion – bring 1,000 new homes to the Oxfordshire town.

The wider scheme will provide a mix of properties from one-bedroom apartments to five-bedroom homes and will be carefully planned to deliver a sustainable community. Of the 1,000 homes, 30% will be transferred to a housing association partner.

A three-form-entry primary school will also be delivered as part of the development through the section 106 agreement and the developer will work closely with Oxfordshire County Council throughout its construction. We will also be making land available to Oxfordshire County Council to allow for the expansion of Wykham Park Academy.

Other community facilities delivered as part of the development include sports pitches, a pavilion and a local centre – including a community hall. The development will also feature an inclusive play area, where children of all abilities can play with a rich range of physical, sensory, and social experiences.

Russell Griffin, Managing Director at South Midlands said: “We’re delighted to have received approval for our first parcel of homes at Wykham Park Farm and I want to thank Cherwell District Council for their support. Not only will this phase deliver 237 quality new homes, it will also create local jobs as part of the construction, generating a significant investment in the local economy.

“We’re committed to creating vibrant, successful communities and supporting more local families in getting their dream homes. We’ll continue to work in partnership with the Council and other stakeholders to ensure our development at Wykham Park Farm delivers real benefits for the whole community.”
