Blackburn with Darwen Councillors have voted to approve plans for 553 new homes in Blackburn.

Built on land allocated for housing in the Blackburn with Darwen Local Plan, the plans will provide a mix of homes for local families, first-time buyers, and downsizers alike.

Properties will range from 2 to 5-bedrooms including terraced, semi-detached and detached houses.

Located 10 minutes from the town centre and Blackburn train station, homeowners will also benefit from excellent links to both the M6 and A666.

Homes on the development will be complete with EV charging points and solar panels.

The development will achieve a 10% biodiversity net gain through a combination of on-site enhancements and off-site contributions.

Lancashire region will contribute over £6 million for improvements to local infrastructure including contributions to primary educational needs, local highway improvement and healthcare accessibility in the local area.

Over 35 acres of public open spaces will be provided including sections of retained woodland and a village green to enhance natural habitat for local wildlife.

Alongside significant open spaces, two new playgrounds will also be included on the site and a new comprehensive cycle and footpath network will help encourage active travel.

Andrew Laing, Land Director at our Lancashire business, said: " We’re pleased that committee members have voted to reaffirm the Council’s recommendation for approval.

“This development will provide a range of house types for young people, families and downsizers alike with excellent access to local amenities.

“In addition to delivering much needed quality new housing, approval of these plans also secures further investment in Blackburn.”
