Harrow hospice receives a donation

Persimmon has pledged £1,000 to help fund vital pain management equipment to St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow. The donation was made through its Community Champions scheme.
John Clifford, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Luke’s, said: “St Luke’s Hospice sees many people admitted to our Inpatient Unit for a variety of different reasons. Some come in because they need our help to ease the pain or sickness they are experiencing. Others come in for compassionate and dignified care in the last days of their life.
“Due to recent changes in health regulations, we need to replace a number of our symptom management devices called syringe drivers as soon as possible.
“These small but vital pieces of equipment deliver a constant source of medication to our patients to alleviate problems such as pain, agitation and seizures. Without syringe drivers, it is very difficult to keep a lot of our patients comfortable and pain free. It can also be stressful for families to see their loved ones suffering.
“These devices also reduce the number of needles and tablets that a patient needs, allowing patients to leave as normally and as comfortably as possible.”
And he added: “We are very grateful for the donation from Persimmon Homes.”
