Helping hand for Dunfermline house hunters

Persimmon Homes West Scotland is giving a helping hand to people trying to get onto the property ladder in Scotland – including one family who really are making their house into a home.

Dunfermline mum Lee-Anne Barclay wanted a more stable home for her toddler son, after years of living in rented accommodation.

She said: “I saw the houses being built at Linburn View and carried out some internet research into what was available. Dunfermline has brilliant amenities and is close enough for me to travel to work in Edinburgh.

“As a first time buyer I needed some guidance, and the Persimmon staff were particularly helpful, putting me in touch with a fantastic mortgage advisor and helping me every step of the way without ever making me feel pressurised – essentially, the manager went above and beyond what I would have expected to be the normal call of duty in order to ensure the entire process went as smoothly as it could possibly go. No question was too small or silly, and there didn’t appear to be anything they wouldn’t do for me.”

Lee-Anne, aged 25, opted for a Doune home, giving her three bedrooms, a spacious bathroom and plenty living space.

“I knew the shared equity deal was perfect for me, and Persimmon were able to offer me their Helping Hand scheme which allowed me to get on the property ladder at a young age.

“In fact, I’m actually paying less for a mortgage on my three bedroom house than I was renting a two bedroom flat – and I have a great big kitchen!

“Best of all, I have made a worthwhile investment in a property that I can proudly say is mine – no more landlords or private letting agencies! After renting for years, I can’t thank Persimmon enough for giving me this opportunity.”

Linburn View, on Trondheim Parkway West, comprises a range of individually designed, contemporary three bedroom homes, close to schools and shopping.

Persimmon Homes New Homes Manager, Denise Chalmers, said: “In addition to the Helping Hand shared equity arrangement, we are able to offer a number of assistance schemes to house hunters, including part exchange, for those who need help to get their property chain moving.

“Anyone who like to know more is welcome to come and talk to us at Linburn View from Thursday to Monday, visit www.persimmonhomes.com or call 0844 490 3876.”
