Hesketh Bank school welcomes Team GB Olympian
14 December 2021
Team GB athlete Daniel Bibby visited a Hesketh Bank primary school to inspire local children to enjoy sport and fitness.
The event, at All Saints Church of England Primary School, was arranged by Lancashire as part of the company’s partnership with Team GB. The school is close to the Douglas Gardens new homes development.
Rugby Sevens star Daniel Bibby showed the students the silver medal he won at the Rio 2016 Olympics and answered questions about his career before taking the children through a series of warm-up and agility exercises.
Headteacher Michelle Ward said: “We had an amazing time with Dan Bibby and he inspired, motivated and engaged the children with his ball skills and stories about taking part in the Tokyo and Rio Olympics.
“Dan really had an impact on my students, so we are incredibly grateful to him for joining us and to Persimmon Homes for making the visit possible.”
A video of the visit can be seen here. All Saints is a thriving village school with close links to its local community.
Daniel said: “I just want to say a big thank you to Persimmon for inviting me down to talk to the kids. I had a great morning sharing my experiences of travelling to two Olympic games and helping them to practice some rugby training skills.”
Lancashire managing director John Roocroft added: “Persimmon are incredibly proud to work with Team GB and it was a pleasure to see Dan Bibby inspiring the children of All Saints and showing them his Olympic medal.”
Douglas Gardens is a collection of new homes in Hesketh Bank, close to the school, local amenities and excellent transport links to Preston and the motorway network.
