Homes for sale in Wolverhampton in partnership to regenerate
12 July 2011
The West Midlands region has had a busy year and was delighted when the diggers finally went to work at its Akron Gate development in Wolverhampton.
But there’s more to Akron Gate than just the launch of a new site, the scheme is part of the joint partnership with St Modwen, and to date has already made a major impact in the area, regenerating the former 88-acre Goodyear Works site providing homes for sale in Wolverhampton.
314 homes in total will be built by the region at Akron Gate and is a welcomed boost to the area which also sees a complete community being created with a whole host of retail facilities.
The approved residential planning application for the Goodyear site was the first to be made as part of a joint venture between St. Modwen and Persimmon and further sites are on stream in Wales and the South Midlands.
Nigel Ashwood, managing director for the West Midlands region, said: “The scheme has brought much-need housing and amenities to the area and plays a vital part in the regeneration of Wolverhampton. It has helped the local economy on many levels by creating valuable job opportunities, in particular for local tradesmen. Sales are going well and we are pleased to have welcomed our first residents to this landmark site.”
