Ysgol Gynradd Creigiau Primary School has received a significant boost from Persimmon Homes East Wales, with a generous £6,000 contribution to help transform the school’s outdoor spaces.
The donation, delivered in two installments, was completed with a final £3,000 presented earlier this week. The funds, part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, will enable the school to improve its outdoor learning facilities, creating enhanced opportunities for creative and interactive activities.
Located near Persimmon’s Capel Llanilltern development, the school is run by a dedicated team of educators who work tirelessly to deliver enriching programmes and essential resources often beyond the reach of conventional funding. This donation strengthens the relationship between the housebuilder and the local community.
The Capel Llanilltern development is a multi-phase project delivering over 1,500 homes, ranging from three to four bedrooms, alongside key amenities including a primary school, retail spaces, offices, sports facilities, and a park-and-ride service. Homes at the site are currently available from £264,995.
Each year, Persimmon Homes East Wales provides £24,000 through its Community Champions scheme, supporting commendable initiatives and organisations in the areas it serves. Recent beneficiaries include Llantwit Fardre RFC Minis and Juniors and the rugby team at Radyr Comprehensive School.
Victoria Williams, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, commented “As we continue to build high-quality homes for families at our site in Capel Llanilltern, Creigiau, we are equally committed to supporting the communities where we operate. Schools like Ysgol Gynradd Creigiau play a vital role in shaping future generations, and it’s a privilege to contribute to their outdoor development initiative.
“We’re always inspired by the dedication and creativity of the schools that apply to our Community Champions scheme, and it’s been wonderful to partner with Ysgol Gynradd Creigiau in this endeavour. We look forward to seeing the outdoor areas take shape and the benefits they will bring to the pupils.”
Headteacher Delyth Kirkman expressed her gratitude, saying “We are very grateful for Persimmon’s continued generosity and support. This donation will significantly enhance our outdoor learning spaces, providing new opportunities for our pupils to learn and play in an engaging environment. Our older pupils have already had the chance to collaborate with local architects, creating playscapes for the Capel Llanilltern development, which has been an invaluable experience.
“Partnerships with local businesses like Persimmon not only support our immediate needs but also give our pupils a window into the world of work and future career possibilities. Thank you, Persimmon, for helping us make a lasting difference for our pupils. Diolch!”
