House builder's donation to City Hospice in Cardiff
25 July 2024
Cardiff’s City Hospice has received a cheque for £1,000, becoming the latest recipient of Persimmon Homes East Wales’ Community Champions scheme.
This year, City Hospice celebrates 40 years of caring for Cardiff with home-based specialist palliative care for patients suffering from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. This donation will go towards supporting more patients and families.
The consultant-led clinical team at the Hospice consists of doctors, specialist palliative care nurses, welfare rights officers, social workers, occupational therapists and bereavement counsellors.
Over 100 patients per month are referred to the charity and it costs over £2.3 million to fund its services. The Community Champions scheme by Persimmon Homes East Wales donates around £24,000 each year to community organisations and good causes in the areas it develops.
Nicky Piper, Corporate Partnerships Manager at City Hospice, thanked Persimmon for the donation and commented “thank you to Persimmon Homes for their generous cheque. £1,000 will pay for six days care from one of our specialist palliative care nurses and we wouldn’t be able to provide such first-class care without this help.”
Victoria Williams, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, commented “Our Community Champions scheme is all about supporting local causes that make a difference across the local community. City Hospice does just that.
“As a prominent housebuilder in Cardiff with developments such at Capel Llanilltern near Creigiau and St Edeyrns Village, our mission at Persimmon is to leave a positive and lasting legacy in the communities where we build. In that spirit, we’re delighted to support City Hospice with their work ensuring people with life-limiting illnesses and their families can receive help when they need it most.”
Persimmon currently has two active developments in Cardiff. Quality new homes are available at The Parish near Creigiau with prices ranging from £189,995 to £469,995.
The last remaining homes at St Edeyrns near Pontprennau are also available from £349,995.
