ISLAND FC NETS FUNDING
12 August 2021

A community football club for children and young adults has received funding thanks to a donation from us.
Our Essex region has selected Island Boys and Girls FC to receive £1,000 through our Community Champions scheme, which supports local projects and groups in the areas where we're building.
Richard Hush, Managing Director of Essex, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Island Boys and Girls FC with funding from the Community Champions scheme.”
The small community football club consists of twelve teams across varying age groups for both boys and girls.
Simon Brake, club secretary for Island Boys and Girls FC, said: “The costs are generally covered by parents or volunteers, also my wife and I raise money through events during the year. This donation is an amazing boost and will go towards helping buy equipment for the club and improve the facilities. Our next task is to improve the clubhouse and buy a new ride on lawnmower.”
The Community Champions programme sees each Persimmon regional office make two donations of up to £1,000 every month. Groups working with the under-18s can also apply to the Building Futures scheme, which is set to give away more than £1 million.
Details of both funding initiatives and online application forms can be found here.
Persimmon Homes Essex is currently building new homes across Essex and East Hertfordshire at Castellum Grange in Colchester, Copperfield Place in Broomfield, Flint Grange in Clacton-on-Sea, Knightswood Place in Rainham, Meridian Place in Hertford and Stanford Meadows in Stanford-le-Hope.
