Members of the Darlington Allstars under 7s were recently pictured proudly wearing their new kits emblazoned with Persimmon branding and logo.
The team, consisting of boys and girls, play in the Teesside Junior Alliance League and went undefeated in the first part of their season, winning nine out of 10 games and scoring an incredible 87 goals.
Recently, the team had the opportunity to be mascots for Darlington FC at Blackwell Meadows, showing off their newly sponsored kit at half time during a penalty shootout on the pitch.
Sophie Spence, whose son plays for the team coached by husband Ben, has worked at Persimmon for 18 years and was delighted that her employer has stepped in to support the team.
Sophie, Senior Purchase Ledger at Persimmon Teesside, said “Playing for Darlington AllStars means so much to all the kids – they’re an incredibly committed bunch who absolutely love playing and training together.
“I’m thrilled that the company I have worked at for 18 years is supporting our local sports teams and making a positive impact on the next generation.”
James Howell, one of the team’s coaches said: “Everyone associated with our club is incredibly proud of everything the team has achieved so far in our first year and we’re incredibly excited to see what the future holds for this talented young group.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to Persimmon for their support, the team love playing in their new kits and hopefully we can carry on winning games and scoring goals.”
Sean Taylor, Managing Director for Persimmon Teesside, added “Community clubs such as Darlington Allstars rely on the dedication and hard work of volunteers and parents who generously give up their weekends and often week-nights so that youngsters can play the sports they love.
“We’re delighted therefore to be able to support such a fantastic local community club in this way and we wish the Darlington AllStars all the best for the rest of season.”
