Liverpool cyclist is the latest community champion
20 May 2022
Our Community Champions scheme is this month backing a charity bike ride.
The London to Paris Bike Ride covers 315 miles in four days, and a team from Alder Hey Children’s Hospital has set itself a fundraising target of £15,000. With just weeks to go before the epic cycling challenge, that target has been smashed, with the total raised currently standing at £36,000.
Jimmy Riley from West Derby, Liverpool, is one of the cyclists taking part, and successfully applied to Community Champions for funding. He was awarded £1,000.
Jimmy said: “Training’s going really well, and I’ve managed to fit in a couple of rides in excess of 50 miles in the last week or so. It’s going to be a tough challenge, but we’re all doing it for the same reason and every mile we pedal will be worth it as we raise as much money as possible for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.”
The cycle ride starts in London on June 8 and finishes in Paris on June 12.
Paul Mascord, Construction Director with Persimmon Homes North West said: “Jimmy is one of our sub-contractors – and a keen cyclist – and we were more than happy to support his fundraising efforts for such a worthy cause.”
Jimmy has set up his own JustGiving page, which will be added to the Alder Hey fundraising. To support him with a donation, follow the link.
