Local cricket club bowled over by funding boost

A local cricket club based in Nottinghamshire is celebrating after successfully securing funding.

Caythorpe Cricket Club is celebrating after successfully securing £3,000 in funding through Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme.

The funding will be used to improve the club’s pavilion and purchase much-needed equipment.

Michelle Welsh, MP for Sherwood Forest and Gareth Hankin Managing Director Persimmon Nottinghamshire, visited the club to formally present a cheque for £3,000.

Freddie King, Caythorpe Cricket Club, said: “Myself and Caythorpe Cricket Club are very grateful for Persimmon’s donation. This is a huge step for a village club such as ourselves which will go a long way towards improving our facilities for our members and the wider community.”

Michelle Welsh MP, who attended the cheque presentation, added: "Caythorpe Cricket Club is an essential part of our community, offering a great space for people to connect through sport. It’s fantastic to see businesses like Persimmon partnering with local clubs to support their growth and impact."
