St John Ambulance were the latest beneficiaries of Persimmon Homes South West’s Community Champions initiative.
The £5,000 donation is helping to fund a new Community Support Unit vehicle which will be based in the St John Ambulance HUB in Taunton and will be able to be used by all of their Somerset based volunteers so that they can travel safely and more efficiently to support local communities with First Aid.
It is a mobile First Aid post and will improve St John Ambulance’s ability to provide emergency First Aid care and support for local people when out and about at events.
St John Ambulance is a volunteer powered, charitable organisation dedicated to the teaching of first aid, supporting the NHS, providing medical support at public events, and administering engaging youth programmes throughout Britain.
Persimmon, a five-star homebuilder, is constructing nearby Taunton at Bridgewater, North Petherton, and Cullompton and is keen to support local organisations in its mission to build communities, not just houses.
The company employs over 5,000 people directly and supports over 80,000 jobs in the supply chain, and its long-established Community Champions programme sees over £700,000 spent on good causes across Britain each year.
Persimmon Homes South West has recently donated to several organisations in the region including Hospiscare, SNUG, and Life Chance Trust as part of the Community Champions scheme.
Commenting, Persimmon Homes South West Sales Director Stacey Harris said:
“We are more than happy to contribute to the noble endeavours of St John Ambulance in Taunton – the exact kind of organisation our Community Champions scheme is there to support.
“We recognise the invaluable role that organisations like St John’s play in enhancing the well-being of our region, and we want our customers to benefit from their services and volunteer opportunities."
“This donation reflects our dedication to giving back to the communities in which we develop and we’re very pleased that the Taunton branch will be able to put this money to good use.”
Louise Jones, Community Fundraising Manager for St John Ambulance, added:
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from Persimmon Homes South West's Community Champions initiative.
“St John Ambulance has hugely extended our footprint in the town recently with investment in refurbished and improved facilities for our Training Team, Volunteer Units and Employees based in Taunton and a Community Support Unit vehicle, and continues to offer a great volunteering route for local people.
“This donation will enable us to extend our reach and impact in Taunton and further strengthen our ability to deliver life-saving services and educational programs to those in need.”
