Local school children get into Royal wedding spirit at houses for sale in Bridgwater
19 May 2011
As Kate and William prepared for their wedding, children from Somerset Bridge Primary School in Bridgwater held their own celebrations.
To help them along, Persimmon Homes South West, building new homes at its neighbouring Nightingales development, asked children at the School to design their dream wedding cake, which Persimmon promised to present to them to enjoy on the day.
On the day, children turned out in School wearing patriotic red, white and blue and Rob Perdrix, sales adviser at Persimmon’s houses for sale in Bridgwater, the Nightingales development, visited pupils to announce the winner of the competition and to officially present the cake to the party-goers. He said: “The children produced designs for wedding cakes fit for royalty and choosing a winner was extremely difficult.
“However, after much deliberation we announced nine year old Alicia Knight as the winner; we were really impressed with her four tiered cake, decorated with the wedding date, a Union Jack flag, the happy couple’s initials and hearts and flowers.
“We’d like to say ‘well done’ to all the children who entered the competition and hope we helped get their celebrations off to a great start!”
Persimmon also launched a crown and tiara design competition which Kieran Richardson evolved as the winner. Persimmon Homes presented Kieran and Alicia with £20 WH Smith vouchers and donated £100 worth of vouchers to the School as a thank you for taking part.
