Local Youth Charity Receives Cash Boost

A Worcester-based youth charity has secured a £6,000 donation to continue its services in and around the area, thanks to our South Midlands region.

The Rees Foundation received the funding boost from Persimmon Homes South Midlands as part of its Community Champions initiative.

The charity supports care leavers across Droitwich and its surrounding areas. The charity’s Caring for Care Leavers Project provides critical, long-term support to care leavers aged 18+, with a particular focus on those over 21, when statutory support ends.The Rees Foundation addresses immediate crises like homelessness, hunger, and mental health struggles while building bridges to brighter futures through emotional and practical assistance. The team has already supported over 1,600 care leavers, offering emergency accommodation, fuel, food, and mental health interventions.

The funds will allow The Rees Foundation to continue its services for care leavers in the region. The donation was marked by a cheque presentation, attended by Russell Griffin, Managing Director at Persimmon South Midlands, and Cllr Tony Miller, Worcestershire County Councillor.

Cllr Tony Miller, Worcestershire County Councillor for Ombersley Division, said: “The Rees Foundation is a valuable and trusted tool enabling young people to have a sense of worth and purpose within society. A safe and contented happy place to live provides security to those vulnerable young people living in the community.”
