Making a splash with community cash

Two worthy East Anglian groups have each scooped community funding to help people water activities.
Norwich Canoe Club and Lowestoft Sea Cadets were selected to receive donations through the Community Champions scheme, which supports good causes where the company is building.
Michelle Baker, sales director of Anglia, said: “In a region surrounded by glorious coastline and waterways, it makes sense to help people enjoy water pursuits so we are proud to support these two worthy organisations.”
Norwich Canoe Club applied for £980 of funding to enable more young coaches to gain national qualifications which allow them to offer more sessions for disabled people to enjoy paddle kayaking and canoeing. For more information visit www.norwichcanoeclub.co.uk
Lowestoft Sea Cadets aims to provide challenging and fun outdoor activities to engage young people, based on the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy. The charity is receiving £1,000 from Persimmon to help it embark on a recruitment drive to bring membership back to pre-Covid levels and encourage more local youngsters to experience the range of opportunities available.
