Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club receives a donation for new kit
11 May 2023

Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club women’s team will take to the field this season in a brand new coloured kit thanks to a generous donation of £1,000 from our Wessex region.
Since its formation two years ago it has recruited over 25 members, of all ages, and competes in hardball and softball leagues. The Persimmon funding has been used by the women’s team to purchase new blue and yellow match shirts from supplier Gray-Nicolls.
Speaking about the new kit, Madi Pavey-Edwards, captain of the Moreton-in-Marsh Ladies Cricket Team, said “We’re very grateful to Persimmon Homes Wessex for their generous donation, and the new kit will make a huge difference to our team and our progress in the sport as we take to the field this summer. Over the past year, we’ve successfully built a large and enthusiastic squad of women cricketers who love the sport.
“Last year’s priority was all about participation - attracting new members and providing opportunities for everyone to take part in this brilliant sport and have fun. This summer we want to continue our progression, and thanks to the support received from Persimmon Wessex, we’re delighted we now look the part as a team with our very own club-branded playing kit.”
The donation was made through our Community Champions scheme, which donates up to £750,000 across the country every year to support local groups and organisations.
Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club was selected as one of Persimmon Wessex’s Community Champions’ winners last year due to its commitment to promoting women’s participation in the sport.
Pauline Fletcher, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Wessex, said "We were delighted to be able to support Moreton-in-Marsh Cricket Club and the women’s team look fantastic in their new kit. We wish them every success in their games this summer. The club is doing great work in encouraging more women and girls to get involved in cricket, and we are very pleased to be able to help them achieve their goals. Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative has a proud history of helping support people and communities, breaking down barriers, and increasing opportunity for all."
