Morley Cricket and Sports Club is set to get a £1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire to help upgrade its facilities.
The sports club, which has had an increase in membership and community group enquiries, was grateful to receive the funds from the Community Champions scheme.
Jeremy Hudson from the club said: “This is wonderful news for the community and the club.
“We have experienced an influx of children wanting to participate in the sports we offer and an increase in local sports organisations wanting to use our facilities and we feel it’s important to provide the community with the best club we can offer.
“Persimmon’s donation will enable us to update our outdoor cricket nets and improve our bowling green multi-sport area making them weatherproof and fit-for-purpose.”
Under Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme, the West Yorkshire regional business provides support of up to £1,000 to two local charities or good causes, every month.
Christopher Hull, managing director for Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “Our scheme is all about supporting the community, so we are very pleased to give our donation to Morley Cricket and Sports club.”
Persimmon Homes is currently building stunning new homes at developments across West Yorkshire and recently begun works at a site in Morley, named Laneside Farm.
