Multilingual Kamila stars in new job-right on her doorstep

07 March 2016

For many people the morning commute is one of the least enjoyable parts of the day – but not for Boston’s Kamila Brigden, who landed her dream job less than 100 metres from her front door.

Kamila, 35, liked her new-build home at The Waterfront, London Road, so much that she ended up selling other properties on the Persimmon Homes development to eager house hunters.

And Kamila, who speaks six languages, has been able to use her mother tongue of Polish to help others find their dream home at The Waterfront.

Kamila landed the job as sales adviser at Persimmon Homes East Midlands after spotting an advert in the sales office window while out walking.

Mother-of-one Kamila, who moved to the UK from Poland 11 years ago, said: “I have a degree in marketing and management and previously worked as a financial adviser."

“I was looking for a new job, but certainly didn’t expect to find one right on my doorstep.”

“I started with Persimmon in November and I love the job. It’s an added bonus that I don’t get stuck in traffic on my way in – it’s just a nice, short walk from door to door.”

“The fact that I live at this development myself certainly helps me to sell properties to others. There is that extra bit of trust and they know I know what I’m talking about.”

As well as English and Polish, Kamila also speaks German, Russian, Italian and Latin.

Kamila added: “Being able to speak other languages is an added bonus with house hunters who visit whose first language is Polish or German. It helps to build a rapport.”

The Waterfront is now on its fourth phase, which consists of 36 attractive and affordable, two bedroom apartments. Prices start at £94,995.

Kamila said that it can be cheaper to buy than to rent.

“Mortgage repayments can be as little as £280 a month at The Waterfront, which is much less than renting a similar property elsewhere in Boston,” she said.

“Most of the people buying here are families and there is a lovely, friendly feeling around. Help to Buy has been a big help to many people.”

“The development is built on a port but there are plans to turn it into a marina, so it’s a great time to live in the area.”
