New homes in Bradford approved

Bradford Councillors have voted to approve the development of 138 new homes in Silsden.
Members of Bradford Council’s planning committee has approved Persimmon’s application that will also provide 28 homes to be transferred to a housing association or sold at a discount to first-time buyers.
Persimmon has also committed to a local homes guarantee so that employees of Airedale General Hospital and people living within a 5-mile radius will have first refusal on properties for the first four weeks.
The development will boast 3 acres of public open space with hedgerows and landscape corridors retained as well as the retention of a public of right of way as a green corridor.
A 10% diversity net gain will be delivered using nearby land while £100,000 will be provided by Persimmon for a footbridge over the A629 towards Steeton & Silsden station.
James Parkin, Land Director at Persimmon West Yorkshire said: ‘We’re pleased that committee members have voted to reaffirm the Council’s recommendation for approval.
“This development will provide 138 much needed high quality new homes in Bradford for local homebuyers.
“Our local homes guarantee also means people living within 5 miles, along with staff at Airedale Hospital will have first refusal when the new homes go on sale.
“The development will provide a range of high-quality and energy efficient homes suitable for first-time buyers, families and downsizers alike at prices people can afford.
“Twenty-one homes will be transferred to a housing association with another seven to be made available as First Homes to first-time buyers with a discount of at least 30%.
“Significant contributions will be made to improve to local infrastructure as agreed with Bradford Council who we look forward to working with to bring this development to fruition.”
