The Boyton Place development in Haverhill is bringing more than £6.6million of infrastructure benefits for the local community.
The investment is being delivered by Suffolk as part of the planning consent agreement for the site, on Haverhill Road.
Ian Hamilton, managing director of Suffolk, said: “Boyton Place is an important site for us, representing a long-term commitment to the sustainability of Haverhill.
“Not only will the development provide more than 1,000 new homes – a third of which will be designated as affordable properties to help more local people achieve home ownership – there will also be significant ongoing investment in the education, health and transport needs of the town.”
As part of the planning agreement, we will be providing the site for a new primary school and making financial contributions of more than £5.4million towards education and early years provision. A further £248,000 is allocated to support local library services.
Over the lifetime of the development, the company will pay £200,000 towards the provision of a community centre and £400,000 to support local healthcare services, in addition to a cemetery contribution of £17,000.
Public transport infrastructure improvements include contributions towards a car share scheme and the provision of a real-time passenger information screen, funding for off-site cycle stands, pedestrian and cycle links and a relief road for the town.
The development will also provide areas of public open space for residents to enjoy.
Ian Hamilton added: “As a responsible builder, whenever we start working within a community, we look at ways to support local people and infrastructure. The Section 106 agreement is part of the planning application and, in the case of Boyton Place, this will deliver a significant amount of funding to improve and enhance life in the town.
“We also operate a charity funding scheme – Community Champions – which offers donations of up to £1,000 to local organisations working to support the neighbourhoods where we build.”
Boyton Place is a collection of two, three and four-bedroom homes to suit a range of buyers.
