West Scotland region announces purchase of Byrehill Grange site, with planning permission already in place.
Plans have been announced for the construction of 426 new homes for local families and first-time buyers in Kilwinning, with construction to begin later this year.
The Byrehill Grange development, just off Byrehill Place, will offer a variety of much-needed two- to four-bedroom energy-efficient new homes. The development will transform vacant and derelict land within the town into a vibrant new housing development, breathing new life into the town.
The development will include work to increase biodiversity in the area. The nearby Penny Burn will be rerouted through Byrehill Grange which will contain significant areas of open space incorporating a range of play areas and landscaping incorporating wildflower meadows.
In addition to much-needed new homes and improved biodiversity, the development will deliver a variety of infrastructure improvements to benefit the town – from zebra crossings to upgraded footpaths, including a new pedestrian bridge over the Penny Burn.
West Scotland region completed the purchase of the site earlier this month, with construction works scheduled to begin later this year.
West Scotland region Land Director Craig Moore said:
“We’re delighted to be taking forward the Byrehill Grange site, which will transform an area of derelict land and breathe new life into the local area.
“We’re committed to investing in North Ayrshire and will continue to work in partnership with the Council to help retain and attract people to live and work in the area.
“With around half of our customers first-time buyers, we’re proud to be helping more local families take their first steps onto the housing ladder.”
