New Starter Follows In Family Footsteps

It’s becoming a real family affair at a Swansea-based housebuilder, where new recruit Maggie Faull has followed in the footsteps of her mother, her aunty and her grandmother.
Maggie, 23 and of Bridgend, is one of the newest faces at Persimmon Homes West Wales after taking up the role of trainee sales executive.
It is, perhaps, not surprising that Cardiff Metropolitan University graduate has opted for a career in the industry having grown up in an environment where selling houses was rarely off the agenda.
Maggie’s mum, Kath Faull, worked for Persimmon between 1997 and 2012, ended her career as sales director.
The family ties don’t stop there though as Maggie’s auntie, Carly Spear, also started as a trainee sales advisor and currently works a sales director at Persimmon Homes Severn Valley.
However, it was Sian Spear, her grandmother, who was the first in her family to start a career in the industry with Ideal Homes before Persimmon took the business over and she also became a sales director.
Maggie is now creating her own path and believes that past experiences will stand her in good stead for the future.
She said: “There has always been that interest there for me, and obviously I was around people that were always talking about houses, so I feel like I have a good background for this job.
“I have a few memories of going to head office with my mum when I was having a sick day from school and when she came home from work wearing site boots and a bright yellow jacket.
“I also remember having a lot of chats with my mum and her experiences working with the company and I know that a lot of my family members bought Persimmon homes from her too.
“From an early age I was very intrigued to find out what the job would be like and was eager to challenge myself by trying something different.”
Having graduated with a degree in Event Management, Maggie is now finding her feet at Persimmon Homes and is looking forward to the challenge ahead.
She added: “I’ve found the new role very interesting so far and I have learnt a lot of information in the short time I have been with the company.
“I’m excited to keep learning and improving as my journey continues.”
Maggie is currently working for Persimmon Homes’ sister company Charles Church at the Golwg Y Glyn development in Pontarddulais, where there is a range of four and five-bedroom homes available, ideal for families.
