The Newcastle Rugby Foundation has been awarded a £3,000 donation from Persimmon Homes North East.
Head of Foundation, Melanie Magee, Newcastle Falcons player, Kiran McDonald, and members of the Newcastle Rugby Foundation were on hand to formally receive a cheque from Persimmon North East Managing Director, Stuart Grimes.
The money is being put towards the Foundation’s ‘Futures’ project, which will be delivered to young people throughout school holidays with the aim of promoting confidence, self-esteem and aspiration.
Melanie Magee, Head of Foundation and Newcastle Rugby Foundation said: "Many thanks to Persimmon homes for such a fantastic donation to Newcastle Rugby Foundation.
“Both the Hitz and Futures projects work with young people who have had very challenging starts in life to access pastoral and emotional intelligence support from our staff to give them an opportunity to succeed in their work and personal lives.
“We strongly believe in the concept of paying forward the benefits of the values of rugby and the Newcastle Rugby Foundation.”
Stuart Grimes, Managing Director at Persimmon North East, added: “It was a pleasure to attend Newcastle Rugby Foundations HITZ Awards morning to meet some of their team and talk to members of the programme.
“The passion and pride the programme instils in their young people was evident to see and I am delighted we have been able to support their work through our Community Champions initiative.”
The funding win comes after the charity applied to our Community Champions initiative which is open to all local charities, schools and community groups looking for funding with winners receiving between £1,000 and £6,000.
