North Midlands team announces sponsorship of Garendon Gallop
07 July 2023

Our North Midlands team has announced its sponsorship of a 10K race taking place on the grounds of the Garendon Park estate in Loughborough, with members of the team taking on the challenge to raise funds for a local children’s charity.
The team has supported the Garendon Gallop since 2021, helping the race to boost its profile regionally. Hosted at Garendon Park – where we’re currently developing our community of over 3,000 homes – this year’s race takes place on Sunday 30th July and has attracted beginners, local club runners and regional elite athletes alike since its inception in 2019.
As part of this year’s event, North Midlands will be working with Loughborough University and Team GB to help attract more runners to Garendon Park for the race. Members of the team will also be running the race to raise funds for Heart Link Children’s Charity.
The one-lap course has a full licence and is chip timed. The route is traffic-free, off-road, mainly on track, private roads and playing fields. The course passes the estate’s numerous monuments, which have been preserved by the team are part of the development.
George Clarke, Director at Start2Finish Events, said: “It’s great to have the support of the Persimmon team for another year as we prepare for this year’s Garendon Gallop event. The race has gone from strength to strength since we re-launched after the pandemic, so to know we have the backing of local businesses located close to the event is a huge boost.”
Dan Endersby, Managing Director at North Midlands region, said: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Garendon Gallop for the third time. Each year, the event showcases the best of Leicestershire athletics and provides runners with the opportunity to complete a course with real historical significance.
“We’re also proud to be working with Loughborough University and Team GB to help boost the profile of the race this year.”
The Garendon Gallop 10K will take place on Sunday 30th July at 10:30am, starting at Charnwood College, Thorpe Hill, Loughborough.
