North Midlands team gives £1,000 cash boost to SARAC

An organisation which provides support for those affected by sexual violence and trauma has secured a donation from our North Midlands team.
Established in 1994 and based in Burton upon Trent, the charity offers free, independent and one-to-one emotional support, information and advice. SARAC’s objectives include the delivery of specialist, face-to-face emotional support, ensuring all supporters are trained to a high standard, and are managed and supported to a high standard.
Last year, SARAC supported 300 adults and 92 young people, as well as providing many awareness sessions at schools and colleges and in community events. Counselling and emotional support is provided by volunteers who have been through in house training. The donation from Persimmon Homes will ensure that SARAC’s volunteers are able to continue their work.
Cathy Miles, Chief Executive at SARAC, said: “We are so grateful to Persimmon Homes and their kind donation of £1,000 via their Community Champions Fund. The support that Persimmon has given us will allow us to continue to carry out our work, which is largely undertaken by volunteers – ensuring that those affected by sexual trauma are appropriately supported in their recovery.”
Nadine O’Dowd, Sales Director at North Midlands, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to local community groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”
“It’s an honour to be able to offer this support to SARAC, who do such important work in and around the Derbyshire area.”
