Members of Charnwood Borough Council were welcomed to Persimmon Homes’ Garendon Park community in Loughborough to hear about the developer’s work in delivering high quality homes for local people.
Rob Mitchell, Chief Executive of Charnwood Borough Council was given a tour of the development’s new show home, meeting with the Persimmon team to discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the housing sector as well as learning more about the site’s progress. Rob was also joined by senior members of Charnwood’s planning and development team.
Located on the northern edge of the Leicestershire town, the award-nominated development will – upon completion – provide a mixed-use community with over 3,000 homes for the people of Loughborough and the surrounding areas. Positioned on the Garendon Park estate, the developers have placed a key focus on the preservation of the historical monuments in the area whilst creating the new community.
Rob Mitchell, Chief Executive of Charnwood Borough Council, was among the visiting group. He said: “Garendon Park is a key site in the Council’s long-term strategy to support growth in the borough.
“The borough’s population has grown by around 18,000 people over the past decade which makes it clear there is a need for new homes in Charnwood. The development also includes 16 hectares of employment land supporting hundreds of jobs; two new primary schools and brings improvements to the local road network.
“I would like to thank Persimmon Homes for organising this visit.”
Dan Endersby, Managing Director at North Midlands region, said: “It was great to welcome Rob and the team at Charnwood Borough Council to Garendon Park and demonstrate the work we’re doing to deliver a brand new community for the people of Loughborough.
“Garendon Park will be our flagship development in the North Midlands, bringing a vast range of homes to the town as well as a wide range of community facilities and amenities.”
