Oakcroft Chase development works with Aster

06 February 2024

An exciting milestone was reached at the South Coast’s Stubbington site as the first homes for shared ownership and affordable rent are nearing handover for housing association partner, Aster Group.

Persimmon and Aster Group were joined on site by Fareham Borough Councillors Cllr David Foot, Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council and local ward councillors Pal Hayre and Jacque Needham to inspect progress and see the high-quality homes being delivered at Oakcroft Lane, Stubbington.

In total, 82 homes will be made available for either shared ownership or affordable rent as part of Persimmon’s 206 home development at Oakcroft Chase. This forms part of an established but growing relationship between Persimmon and Aster, which are also working together at Persimmon’s Lakedale site in nearby Whiteley.

Stewart Jones, Construction Director at Persimmon Homes South Coast said:
“We’re making excellent progress on site and are very proud of the high-quality and attractive new homes we are building in Stubbington.

“It was a pleasure to have Cllrs Foot, Hayre and Needham join us to have a look at the homes for shared ownership and affordable rent which we know will make a real difference to local people in Fareham looking for a home of their own.”

Edward Till, Head of New Business & Delivery at Aster Group commented:
“It was great to meet Cllrs Foot, Hayre and Needham on site in Stubbington and show them some of our new affordable homes for the Fareham Borough.

“We build new homes for rent and shared ownership across the south of England and London, and Hampshire continues to be an important location for our development programme.

“In the midst of a housing crisis, we’re delighted that more affordable housing is coming forward for the local community in this area and we look forward to welcoming the new residents in due course.”

Cllr David Foot, Executive Member for Housing at Fareham Borough Council added:
“Good quality affordable housing is always welcome and these houses will help with the ever-increasing demand for housing in the Fareham area."

A mixture of two, three and four-bedroom homes are being made available at Oakcroft Chase, offering a full range of starter homes and family housing at this attractive location on the south coast.

As well as delivering much needed new homes in Fareham, over £4 million is to be invested into the local community through Persimmon’s wider developer contributions to schools, healthcare and transport improvements.
